Finally… another painting

It’s been way too long since I last posted, but mainly because what with one thing and another I haven’t had much to add. But here is another portrait I have done of Edda, who is a marvellous sitter. Revisiting a previous version of it I was not happy with, I went to photos I had taken and drawings I had done and started again.

Adam Portrait Award

I was really happy to get into the final of the 2018 Adam Portrait Award, with this painting of Faustinah Ndlovu, a friend in Rotorua. Originally from Zimbabwe, she is very active in the local community, and models sometimes for local artists. The exhibition is on in Wellington for several months and then tours several centres.

Year of the Dog

It’s been way too long since I last posted. The whole of summer has gone by, and not only is it a new year but a new Chinese Year. To celebrate the year of the dog, Rotorua’s Helium Gallery is holding a dog-themed exhibition, with a portion of proceeds going to the SPCA. This is my contribution.

Another small painting

Have just finished, I think, my second piece for the small works (less than 200 x 200mm) exhibition – maybe it needs another glaze. Anyway I’m already working on another two, so all is going to schedule with these. I wish my other projects were as up-to-date!

First post

Well, this is the first post on my new website. I will try and keep it regularly updated!
At the moment I am working towards several exhibitions, including an exhibition of small works, for which I am doing a few circular panels. Here is my first one – the peppers were grown in our garden. They were green when picked and while lying on the bench changed into such beautiful colour shades.
Unfortunately they never got used in the end, but at least I got a painting out of them, so they weren’t totally wasted.
